To clear up any lingering confusion over the Moxie transitioning to a not-for-profit model, you do not need to be a member to see a movie at the Moxie�you can come and buy your ticket just like you always have, and we'll be thrilled to see you. But if in addition to seeing a great movie you'd like to help ensure the Moxie's rosy future by becoming a member, we'll be thrilled about that, too! Your annual membership donation is tax deductible and carries with it the following perks:

FIRST PARAGRAPH: Hello again! It�s been awhile since my last blog post (just over seven months, to be exact), but I�m back again, for one last time, to make an exciting announcement: The Moxie has sold! For those of you who had no idea we were even for sale, this news might come as a shock; and for those of you who have no idea what The Moxie is, why are you even reading this?! I tweeted about the sale after our closing on Thursday, and since then we�ve been flooded with questions, comments, and congratulations. I figured a blog post would be the easiest and most efficient way to answer all the questions and shed some light on the future of The Moxie.

FIRST PARAGRAPH: This summer we'll be showing the indie doc HANDMADE NATION about indie craft shows and DIY-ers. So, in the spirit of indie craft shows (think The Renegade Craft Fair, Strange Folk, etc), we decided to have a mini craft show in The Moxie's lobby!

FIRST PARAGRAPH: Here's the thing: We don't like loose change. Quarters are okay. As you've noticed when you purchase something from The Cinebar, it's usually an even amount, plus a 50-cents or so. To get that way, we make our prices really odd (for example, $7.41 for a ticket) and then add the sales tax to make it an even $8. In other words, tax is included. And we don't have to worry about pesky pennies.

FIRST PARAGRAPH: The Moxie (and Springfield, of course) lost one of its favorite customers / artists this month, Robert E Smith. We'll miss seeing him around town, and serving him a diet root beer, of which he'd only take one sip, hand back to us, and then ask us to call him a cab.
