I love the winter weather...NOT

Written by Nicole

Just a reminder to check our website, call our movie line, or look at your Facebook or Twitter feeds for news of any film cancellations. We rarely do this, but it seems every January we have to cut out a show or two due to ice and snow.

So, tonight ME AND ORSON WELLES at 9pm and A SINGLE MAN at 9:15pm are CANCELED. The early shows (ORSON WELLES @ 6:30p & YOUNG VICTORIA @ 6:45p are still being shown).

Thank you for understanding!

Happy Holidays 2009

Written by Dan

This is the real Dan speaking. I haven't written much over the last six months, but I'm here today to wish you all a happy holiday, and to post a picture of Jasper (b/c that's what dad's do). Eat your heart out!

Exciting news!

Written by Nicole

Hi everyone! We have some very exciting news for you...The Moxie will be starting the post-apocalyptic film THE ROAD on December 18! Based on one of the best books written in the past 100 years (my opinion), it's about a father and son trying to survive years after some world-wide catastrophic event. We are very excited!

Oh yeah, we also had a baby! His name is Jasper, he weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces, measured 20 inches in length, and came 15 days early (born on November 24). We think he's the bees knees, even when he keeps us up all night long wanting to eat and fuss.

So while we make the transition from a married couple to parents, please be patient if things are a little behind at The Moxie. Our staff does a terrific job running the place, but we might be out of your favorite bottle of wine or peanut butter brownie for a few days. We'll get everything running again smoothly in a couple more weeks.

And here's a picture of our little guy!

2009 Documentary Series - Cards Due by November 20th!

Written by Nicole

An update on our 2009 Documentary Film Series! We're running out of time before the True/False passes are for sale, and we've had quite a few cards filled up. So - EVEN IF YOU HAVEN'T COMPLETED IT, or you only have ONE STAMP, drop it by this week for a chance to win a Simple Pass to this year's True False Film Festival in Columbia, Feb. 25 - 28! We'll be doing 2 drawings: one for the card with the most stamps, and then a random card. YOU MUST TURN IT IN BY FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2009 to be eligible!!!

Also, Missouri State has been sponsoring a series of films this semester at The Moxie, with a documentary counterpart following. This week we'll be showing Werner Herzog's FITZCARRALDO and then a couple weeks later BURDEN OF DREAMS. These films are free and open to the public, and we have sign-up sheet at the box office for a chance to win a free pass to True False, courtesy of the Department of Media, Film, and Journalism! So make sure to stop by and catch a free movie (donations are gladly accepted for the department), and enter to win!
