Synopsis
In director Michel Gondry's (ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND) latest film, life seems to be looking up for shy and withdrawn Stephane when he is coaxed to return to his childhood home with the promise of a job... in the mundane world of copy setting. Wildly creative, his fanciful and sometimes disturbing dream life constantly threatens to usurp his waking world. Stephane is quickly drawn to his neighbor, Stephanie (similar names!) whose imagination easily matches his own. As their relationship blossoms, the confidence Stephane exudes in his dreams begins bleeding over into his real life. Unable to bear the prospect of a waking world without Stephanie's love, and with no satisfying solutions coming out of his dream world, Stephane faces a dilemma he may not be able to depend on the science of sleep to help him solve.

Reviews
"An indie version of Gondry's"
- Tasha Robinson, The Onion (A.V. Club)
"Bernal continues to demonstrate an impressive range; the character requires the normally laid-back actor to be a wild ball of energy, and he's more than up to the challenge. His performance is hilarious, heartfelt and more than a little creepy, which could also be said about the movie itself."
- Ethan Alter, TV Guide
"It's not likely you'll see a film more visually exhilarating until, well, Gondry's next."
- Glenn Kenny, Premiere
"Very difficult to characterize and that's why I like it. The best I can do is to call it a sunny tragedy."
- Peter Rainer, Christian Science Monitor
"This scruffy, unkempt tale lacks the narrative satisfaction of Kaufman's dramatic design, but between the chaotic zigs and creative jags, it proclaims its own kind of messy authenticity and a bittersweet beauty."
- Sean Axmaker, Seattle Post-Intelligencer
