Synopsis
Before Iraq, before the Bush Administration, before the Dixie Chicks, Bruce Springsteen, and Pearl Jam ... there was John Lennon, the celebrated musical artist who used his fame and his fortune to protest the Vietnam War and advocate for world peace. In THE U.S. VS. JOHN LENNON, filmmakers David Leaf and John Scheinfeld trace Lennon's metamorphosis from lovable "Moptop" to anti-war activist to inspirational icon as they reveal the true story of how and why the U.S. government tried to silence him.
A must-see for Lennon fans, and beyond!

Reviews
"This movie is both sad and inspiring. It offers proof that Lennon's wit and art are everlasting."
- Michael Sragow, Baltimore Sun
"To me, the most potent dimension of THE US VS. JOHN LENNON is the way that it captures the contradictory romanticism of Lennon the radical."
- Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly
"Ending the film with a perfunctory run-through of Lennon's murder on the doorstep of his Manhattan apartment building, however, foregrounds an unfortunate irony: Had the INS succeeded in forcing Lennon out of the U.S., he might be alive today."
- Ken Fox, TV Guide
"While there is nothing particularly new in the film, it is a stirring celebration of a man of enormous talent, humor and humanity, laid waste by an assassin in New York in 1980."
- Jack Mathews, New York Daily News
