Synopsis
Working nine to five is a real killer, but teambuilding holidays can sometimes be even worse. A bus lurches out of the hustle and bustle of Budapest and heads towards the mountainous border. Aboard are seven employees of Palisade Defense, an international weapons manufacturer of innovative weaponry for the past 75 wartorn years. The lucky group are being treated to a team-building weekend at the company’s newly built luxury spa lodge by their president, George Cinders. But things quickly go awry as the colleagues find themselves faced with the chop when their corporate weekend is sabotaged by a deadly enemy. Reviews
"I prefer my horror with a chaser of wit, and SEVERANCE, a modest but very lively British import, serves it up in harsh but high style."
- Michael Phillips, Chicago Tribune
"The result is a cathartic hoot, relishing its own carefully doled out carnage."
- Gianni Truzzi, Seattle Post-Intelligencer
"What's more refreshing about SEVERANCE is how the movie's humor offsets the violence, and even that is pretty restrained (at least by modern standards)."
- Pete Vonder Haar, Film Threat
"Director and co-writer Christopher Smith, mischievously blending"
- Peter Travers, Rolling Stone
"SEVERANCE still seems a few rewrites away from living up to its potential, but it's remarkable how much just a modicum of wit can spice up the standard backwoods slice-and-dice. Scaring people with a horror film is easy; entertaining them takes a little skill."
- Scott Tobias, The Onion (A.V. Club)
