Synopsis
A sensation at the Sundance Film Festival, audiences fell in love with the seriously self-deluded Tae Kwon Do instructor Fred Simmons (Danny McBride), who talks a big, macho game, but falls to pieces when his wife betrays him. At his studio, “the way of the foot and the fist” turns boys into black belts and suburbanites into great warriors. That is, until Simmons’ seemingly perfect life starts collapsing when he discovers his wife having an affair on him. Twice. A chance to resurrect his life by battling his hero—the 8-time undefeated champ and star of the Seven Rings of Pain trilogy, Chuck “The Truck” Wallace (Ben Best)—gives Simmons’ life purpose as he winds up on a wild, comic journey that will take him from egomaniacal bluster all the way to becoming the stand-up man of his delusional dreams.

Reviews
"The result is a comedy that's low budget in all the right ways - so hilarious, testosterone-charged and yet cringe-inducing to watch that the result is almost exhausting."
- Peter Hartlaub, San Francisco Chronicle
"Not short on broad physical humor. But Simmons is a brilliantly detailed grotesque capable of withstanding comparison to his most obvious inspiration, Ricky Gervais'"
- Clark Collis, Entertainment Weekly
"The always thin tightrope between"
- Marc Mohan, Portland Oregonian
"This is a really small film, shot in 19 days, and it's a little rough around the edges, but it's got a huge comic heart that's undeniable."
- Eric Campos, Film Threat
"It's all saved by actor Danny McBride, who has created such a distinctive character in Simmons, at once engaging and repulsive, that it's hard not to keep watching even while cringing."
- Mark Olsen, Los Angeles Times
