Synopsis
What do you get when you mix quirky French director Michele Gondry (ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND) with powerful musical performers such as The Roots, Erykah Badu, and a reunited Fugees? DAVE CHAPPELLE’S BLOCK PARTY, that’s what! Offering moviegoers front-row seats at a unique entertainment and communal experience, Dave Chappelle's Block Party showcases how vital and vibrant music and humor can unite us and help transcend our turbulent times.
This one had a brief appearance in Springfield, but BLOCK PARTY is so good, we wanted to give it another shot for those who missed it (or want to see it again). Five showings only!
Also, on April 6th at 8:00 pm, don't miss our own "block party," being thrown right outside The Moxie. Co-sponsored by GO! Magainze, the block party will feature preformances by Acumen and Less Moore, followed by a showing of the film. Check the website for more info!

Reviews
"The enthralling spirit of DAVE CHAPPELLE’S BLOCK PARTY, its mood of exuberant democracy, extends to every rap and soul performance in the film."
- Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly
"Once in a great while there's a movie that's so funny, infectious and welcoming - a movie that makes you feel so good about America and the people in it - you just want to climb inside the screen and live there. That's the case with DAVE CHAPPELLE’S BLOCK PARTY - part comedy, part concert film, part avant-garde experiment, and all of it a joy."
- Jami Bernard, New York Daily News
"The movie they've assembled is in the vein of 1973's "Wattstax," but it's much more than a concert documentary. It's a jubilant, civic-minded lollapalooza."
- Wesley Morris, Boston Globe
"It's the best kind of complaint. You can see why the $50 million man refers to something he gave away as "the best single day of my career.""
- M. E. Russell, Portland Oregonian
"At a time when our country feels divided to the point of cracking, DAVE CHAPPELLE’S BLOCK PARTY feels like a salve. It's a defiant act of optimistic patriotism."
- Stephanie Zacharek, Salon.com
