Life is Beautiful (1997)

Member Q&A with Denise Ashley

What do you love about this particular film, and why do you want to share it with others?

"I love this film for many reasons... the music, the humor, and the subject matter. It is not a film "about the holocaust" (though set during WWII and partially in a concentration camp) but rather, to me, it is the most beautiful love story. The film rises above the horrors of that despicable era in our history and very beautifully and creatively displays the greatest acts of love and concludes with a happy ending (in part!). It's not all rainbows and unicorns, but It is Beautiful!"

Why movies? Meaning there is a lot to do with your time....what is it about movies (or moviegoing) that you find essential/useful/beneficial?

"I love watching movies mainly to escape the real world, I guess, and to learn things and to stretch my imagination and my ways of thinking about things. A good movie is like a mini vacation!"

What's the thing you like best about being a member?

"I love everything about the Moxie and I love supporting everything it does and stands for."

Favorite Moxie memory?

"I couldn't say. Not any one thing stands out.... it's always great!"

What are the "three benefits" of coming to the Moxie?

"Great movies that often aren't offered at mainstream theaters, great popcorn, wine, and the intimate atmosphere. That's four. :)"
