Set in the late 70s in the rural countryside, a reserved Theo returns home to their mother Cynthia. The two have been separated for four years, after Theo abruptly left town to follow his now ex-girlfriend to Los Angeles. As the two begin to try and find comfort in one another again Cynthia must finally admit her ailing health, and work with Theo to grapple with the impending reality of her passing.
Theo is a slice of life story that tackles the heavy hitting themes of accepting an inevitable death, and the struggles of that your parent(s) have always been people with their own vivid lives. Theo tackles these themes in a calm, satisfying, way that feels like a comforting hug in the face of grief.
