A 1920s English seaside town bears witness to a farcical and occasionally sinister scandal in this riotous mystery comedy. Based on a stranger than fiction true story, WICKED LITTLE LETTERS follows two neighbours: deeply conservative local Edith Swan (Olivia Colman) and rowdy Irish migrant Rose Gooding (Jessie Buckley). When Edith and fellow residents begin to receive wicked letters full of unintentionally hilarious profanities, foul-mouthed Rose is charged with the crime. The anonymous letters prompt a national uproar, and a trial ensues. However, as the town’s women - led by Police Officer Gladys Moss (Anjana Vasan) - begin to investigate the crime themselves, they suspect that something is amiss, and Rose may not be the culprit after all. "It’s undeniably an absolute blast."

— Wendy Ide, Screen International

"The cast [...] is top drawer, delivering performances as crisp as well-starched linen."

— Leslie Felperin, Financial Times

"Any time spent with actors as skilled as Colman and Buckley is time enjoyably spent."

— Laura Venning, Empire Magazine

"[A] witty, joyously written piece of forgotten history, scripted by comedian Jonny Sweet."

— Clarisse Loughrey, The Independent

"It has a gloriously antic spirit and it sends you out on a high -- no small thing these days."

— Sandra Hall, Sydney Morning Herald

"Wicked Little Letters may revolve around a mysterious author, but a talented cast and crew put their signature all over it."

— Stephen Saito, The Moveable Feast

"The Oscar winner and Oscar nominee, respectively, play warring neighbors in a tiny English village in the 1920s, and there is a glorious gusto to their very funny performances."

— Esther Zuckerman, Vanity Fair

"In Sharrock’s hands, 'Wicked Little Letters' is an entertaining account of what feels like a primitive form of today’s online flame wars, where people take sides as commenters openly disparage one another."

— Peter Debruge, Variety

"The camera looks up to Colman and Buckley in adulation, often allowing their features to seize the entire frame. Here’s a film that understands perfectly well that the two of them are all we need to enjoy ourselves."

— Clarisse Loughrey, Independent (UK)
